EMPTY PAPER

A.ABARNA
III BA ENGLISH
SHIFT II
Once,
I decided to write a poem
Cuckoo called to write about its song
The sky showed its glittering stars
Trees nodded their branches
Tides waved happily
The night dragged my thoughts into silence
Suddenly my alarm bell woke me up
Only to find my paper empty

I AM

I AM

Near the Strand I stand
Staying to prove the land
Welcome my guest warmly
Watch the happenings tranquilly
Wake up with the grating roar of the alarms
Fling my soul and Cease the fears of harms
Wait to bestow my beams
Come on! Climb the long furled steps
And print your vestige in me
I am……

CEASE THE NOISE OF PEACE

CEASE THE NOISE OF PEACE

Legs stretched on the gritty sand,
Facing the tides that glimmer on the moon.
Thoughts wandering like the water
That flings toward the palely blanched land
With a grating rumble and retreats soon.

Eyes, pondering on the noise of peace,
Are fixed on the foam filled strand.
Its tremulous cadence my ears can’t stand.
My shingles dampened by the briny breeze
That pierces through my ear caves.

Still wondering to find peace,
I rise toward the ebbing waves
That, like a girdle, furls around my feet.
I still stare into the turbid end of the endless sea,
In certitude, to cease the noise of tranquility.

CROWS IN MY CLASSROOM

SUMAIYA RAFI
I BA ENGLISH LIT
SHIFT II
You are an interesting student in my college,
Sitting and listening from the top edge.
You come when you will
And leave before someone kills.
At times my fellow buddies yell
Pointing at you and tell:
“There she stands”.
And would clap our hands.
You’ve got more freedom than us
And learn without any fuss.
But when with lecture, you are bored,
Your flight you would board.
But oh, my dear Black Beauty!
We all would be happy
If you wear a nappy.

Hawk Roosting - RAVEN BOASTING

I sit in the top of the wood, my eyes closed.
Inaction, no falsifying dream
Between my hooked head and hooked feet:
Or in sleep rehearse perfect kills and eat.

The convenience of the high trees!
The air's buoyancy and the sun's ray
Are of advantage to me;
And the earth's face upward for my inspection.

My feet are locked upon the rough bark.
It took the whole of Creation
To produce my foot, my each feather:
Now I hold Creation in my foot

Or fly up, and revolve it all slowly -
I kill where I please because it is all mine.
There is no sophistry in my body:
My manners are tearing off heads -

The allotment of death.
For the one path of my flight is direct
Through the bones of the living.
No arguments assert my right:

The sun is behind me.
Nothing has changed since I began.
My eye has permitted no change.
I am going to keep things like this.

Ted Hughes :

I sit on the top of the wood, eyes examining.
Concentration, not to miss the doughnut
Between those bulged hands and broken teeth:
Even in sleep rehearse perfect snatches and eat.

The convenience of the sinking garbage!
The air’s foul smell and the tainted meat
Are of favourite to me;
And now the half-eaten doughnut falls in my inspection.

My feet are ready to swoop down.
It took the whole of night
To rehearse my move, my each gesture.
Now i hold the doughnut in my feet

And fly up and revolve it all proudly.
I eat as I please because it is all mine.
Wait! Something’s bothering my body:
My manners are dropping on heads-

The allotment of chances.
For the one path of my dropping is direct
On to the bald heads of the living.
No rebukes avert my right.

The people are beneath me.
Nothing has changed since I began.
My stomach has permitted no change.
I am going to keep dropping like this.

VOICE OF A WITHERED FLOWER

Oh! My soul is wailing
Tears are rolling
Cheeks tasting
Because...

My Thoughts are scattering
Eyes dismaying
Vision losing
Because...

My Heart is bleeding
Wounds are worsening
Future is cursing
Because...

I’m a normal girl
With an abnormal blessing,
Once flew up like a butterfly
In the skies of Rainbow.

Now trying to flap my wings
But got tied up by the strings
And caged inside a square
Worn out wings shed its colour
Lifeless life bestowed on me ever.

Colours are various
But mine stapled colour is plain
It’s rich in the moon
Hidden in the dark
Shroud of corpse
The representative of purity.

That’s the flawless “WHITE”
Draping this flawed “WIDOW”

Happiness not permanent but momentary
I’m became people’s commentary
And stain of pain still remains unconditionally..!!!

THIRST TO TOUCH

Sang you together with my chums when I was child
Teacher’s prescription made me to taste you
Without realizing actual content I enjoyed you
When I stepped into graduate
You seemed unusual and weird
You dragged my heart
Started love to read you more
Felt blissful to read you more
Seeing you astonished about your owners
Wondering, how their thought carved you
Really amazing!
Questioning myself, how they alone could?
Next interrogating myself ,why can’t I?
Now, kindling my thought
Crushing my brain to touch you with my ink
Can I touch you?
Will they name that as “POEM?”
